DJ Duce interviews Damen Williams, a music recording artist from Harlem, New York detailing his passion and love for music while struggling with the temptations and struggles of life.

DJ Duce: What was the hardest part about trying to make music? Did you find it difficult to live 'a street life' and chase a career in music?
Damen Williams: The hardest part was just that. Trying to live both life's. Cause a hungry artist ain't no good. I needed to live to pay for studio time . I had it the hard way coming into the music world. I missed out on a lot because of life & prison. Tracks like 'Light's Out' and 'All My Life' are some examples that explain a lot about my early age.
DJ Duce: At what point in your life did you decide that music is something you want to pursue?
Damen Williams: I was around 18 when I was locked up and I was rapping in the yard and one of my associates told me to never give up. At first it was for the money & fame. But once I started having kids, my passion had changed to where I want to just live a better life so my seeds can have a better future.
DJ Duce: Growing Up In Harlem, New York in the mid 80's, what were some of things you witnessed everyday that reflected the music culture for its time?
Damen Williams: The Truth? The best time of hip-hop! When music was real from Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane the culture was a lot different. Back when DJs was going to head up in the big park and people were jumping on the mic. It was all about what you were saying, not the beat.

DJ Duce: On your track, 'The Confrontation', you are going back and forth with yourself 'a alter ego' about your life. Give us some insight on this track and what the basics were?
Damen Williams: Okay the track 'The Confrontation'. It is me building with that man in the mirror. Seeing and being in the nation of Gods & Earths have made me look deep within self. To where I do have lots of questions on where and why my life went wrong. Its Cool. I was on like my 3rd or 4th bid getting tired of going in and out of prison. So I started asking myself what happen? I started doing some looking and digging and got to know and understand myself better. Ask some questions and all the answers came out. I also came to learn that there are two people within, good and bad, god and the devil. This track made me learned about myself more, too where there is also a 2nd part to this track titled 'Magnetic vs Damen'. Magnetic, that's my righteous name and Damen is my slave name, my old Earth gave to. You see 'Damen' the name of the devil. That's the foundation of these tracks. War within, to come out a better man.
DJ Duce: In 5 years, where do you want to be in music? Where do you see your music career in 5 years?
Damen Williams: Within 5 years, I would like to be a house hold name. I don't need to be the best in the world. I just want to be heard, have fun and see the enjoyment within others. I see my music career in 5 years being better than where it at right now for sure. But a will good artist with good music. Someone will see Damen E. Williams and be like, that's the artist you want to work with. My plan is to have a label and help artists, that's really ready to work and get to work. I do have a album out right now called 'The Wave' on all music streaming platforms. I am also about to release two new singles 'U Don't No Me' and another called 'Ms. Dorrita' that is dropping this month off the upcoming album 'U Don't Know Me'. Also I have heard from the label, we will be having a tour coming up August 13, 2021. It's a 10 day tour. I'm still waiting on the city's where we be touring, looking forward to that! I would like to say thank you and Tri Clark Records is on the come up. Please stay tuned for more music and videos.
