DJ Duce interviews Tri Clark Records recording artist Da-Capone on his early start in music.

DJ Duce: Since making music at the age of 10, how has music changed over the years? Did you have to adjust your music with the times?
Da-Capone: It changed drastically over the years. The new generation is changing the music game. Some are rapping and singing, real stuff! Others are rapping about things that’s irrelevant, committing murders then dropping a song about it. All the kids around my age and it’s sad. Us as kids thought the music we was hearing was actually something but in reality, these so called rappers, rapping about illegal things and the murders they committed. To me that’s not cool! Drill music started going up. At the time, I was doing the same as other young artists was doing and wasn’t really talking about the good. I was always bringing the bad sides of things and barley spoke about the good. During them years, I wasn’t really thinking before rapping. When it came to dropping a song back then or making one, I always felt like I had to fit in with the other young artists. That wasn’t really doing good music at the same time.
DJ Duce: You took a break from music to focus more on life. Share how that break helped you and how you plan to use that in your music?
Da-Capone: We come from a dark place. Every artist is struggling because the struggle was real, for me being 3 of 8 kids. My mother being a single mother I witnessed hell. My mother been through and back, so I motivated myself saying “mom can’t do everything on her own”. There’s 4 young an 4 older siblings. I just felt like I had to be the one to change that all. So music for me, just wasn’t a thing any more. I was looking life more than anything. I just stared focusing on me and helping my mom out no matter what I felt like. Music was just a distraction to me at the time and I wasn’t really getting anywhere or attracting the attention. So I said forget this music stuff, it’s time to be a family man.

DJ Duce: Give us more insight on how your father and step father influenced your own music?
Da-Capone: My father was once in a music group called “ Dirty Dudez”. Being there, seeing him do his thing didn’t motivate me at first. It did open my eyes to where I was looking at it and thought my dad is a rapper! It sparked something in me, that told me right then and there that this is something I see myself doing when I get older. Made good songs such “ A savage in the booth” which I deeply feel is one of his hardest song he’s ever made. Not to mention my step dad, he is a hard mc himself. There are songs I dig deeply as well, but one song that caught my attention. I also told myself I can do a song just as great as theirs!
DJ Duce: In 5 years, where do you want to be in music? Where do you see your music career in 5 years?
Da-Capone: In 5 years tops, I see myself on stage rapping my heart out to a sold out crowd and show with just everyone chanting! That’s a dream I had and I’m going turn it into reality! Where I’m at now with my music, I believe I would be a lot further to my goal and that is getting my family out of the hood, onto some hills. I'm going stick behind my words and not give up. I can’t give up now. I made it this far, so why stop now. I got to my prove to the ones that think I ain’t going to make it that D-a isn’t next up when I’m already an next up. I also want to build a strong relationship with Tri Clark Records and the current artists that’s signed with the label. Also, I have a lot of new music coming real soon! My first tour as well starts on 08/13/21 and its called "East Coast Meets Dirty South Tour". A 10 city tour, and I can’t wait for the fun to begin!
